Back in ancient Egypt, the pharaohs permitted their scribes and spiritualists to find solution to longevity. They hoped to live forever, and remain beautiful in spite of their age. Varying successes were experienced with the use the olive leaf, as recorded on the walls of the pyramids. But obviously, the ultimate goal was not achieved, or else we wouldnt still be looking for it today. For ages, many attempts have been made to help man in his quest to defeat old age. Scientists and alchemists have attempted various cures through the use of potions and other strange things for consumption. Sometimes they drank, sometimes they ate. Sometimes they injected substances such as gold into their bodies. Their test subjects must have gone through virtual hell. The people in our past are not as crazy as we would like to put them down as. Yes, in trying to solve old age and extend life, they must have tried a host of strange things that we would consider hideous today. Some went as far as passing gold into their body, but we all know today that that is poisoning. Yet these escapades are the reasons we have gotten as far as we have in modern day. The various successes recorded in the field of anti age and life extension research would never have been realized without the bumbling mistakes of our ancestors. Some ate all sorts of hideous things, some injected solid substances into their bodies, and some just ate various animal parts. The thoughts of these make us shiver, but we really are no different today, only more sophisticated. There is a lot of history that is written about various quests for life extension and preserved youth. Also much fiction is derived from this. Spanish poet Ponce de Len wrote about his search for the Fountain of Youth as far back as the 16th century, showing that man has been interested in such for at least that long.
